Buying an iPad?

Here is a Q&A between my sister and I regarding an iPad purchase:
Q: How should I go about getting one? And do I have to have AT&T to use it?
A: Order online from Apple. No, you do not need a data plan from AT&T to use it. There are two kinds: an iPad that is WIFI only, and an iPad that uses WIFI and AT&T 3G data. Data plans are $15/250MB or $30/unlimited data. You can buy the iPad with 3G and not buy a plan for it, just use the WIFI. You probably will want the 3G in the future, even if you do not get the data plan now. Also the 3G iPads are not shipping until the end of this month.
You can use the WIFI only version just like a laptop – on your wireless network at home or at work, etc… 3G you can use anywhere. (well, AT&T anywhere)
The WIFI only versions are $130 cheaper:

If I were buying today personally would get $499 version (or the $729 version if money is no object)
Final warning: everyone says if you have kids ages 3 or above do not buy an iPad, you will have to fight to use it every day! Buying one for each family member will take care of that.
